Cardinals Host McNeese as Battle of the Border Comes to Beaumont

Dates that are circled on the calendar by players, coaches and fans as soon as schedules are released, the annual rivalry between Lamar University and McNeese gets renewed Monday. The Battle of the Border – Part II, is set for Monday evening in Beaumont. The Cardinals enter the game having won three of their last five but are coming off a disappointing setback to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday evening in Beaumont. The loss drops LU to 15-12 (.556) overall and 9-5 (.643) in Southland Conference play. Big Red enters Monday’s contest in fourth place of the conference standings a game back of Nicholls and A&M-Corpus Christi and a half game up on Southeastern Louisiana in the standings. McNeese has held the top spot in the standings since day one and comes to Beaumont with a 24-3 (.889) overall record and a 13-1 (.929) SLC mark. The Cowboys have rattled off five consecutive wins since a three-point loss at Southeastern Louisiana three weeks ago.
